Here's a look at history. Espresso was invented in 1903 by
Luigi Bezzera. The machine that he created was termed the
"Fast Coffee Machine", which reduced the brewing time by adding pressure to the coffee brewing process—this is
where the word "espresso" comes from, which means "fast" in Italian. Not only did his machine reduce brewing time, it made a better cup of coffee.
